YES – WE’RE DONE WITH CITYTV

Citytv has new owners and they want to put their stamp on the channel.  They want to go in their own direction, and that isn’t a journey we want to embark upon.

So after 14 successful years, Ed & Red’s Night Party! will end on Citytv at midnight August 31, 2008. Until then, there will be new shows every Friday and Sunday. Not a new show on Friday and rerun on Sunday, but two different new shows each weekend.

But don’t despair – this particular series is ending...in Canada…for now. But me and Liana aren’t going to disappear. We have new shows in development, ones we have wanted to do for a while but were too busy with the weekly late-night show to pursue. We can’t tell you about them yet nor what channel to look for them on. We have a lot to be proud of: we are the longest-running weekly comedy series and longest-running late  night show in Canadian TV history. Not bad for a show they said wouldn’t last two years. And we owe that success to you. Okay, also to our brilliance, but to you for recognizing it. Which makes you just as brilliant.

Also – if you’re outside of Canada, in the USA and abroad…don’t worry. You’re going to continue to get Ed & Red’s Night Party for the foreseeable future. In fact, Australia has just made an offer to buy 5 seasons of the show with an interest in 2 additional seasons which haven’t even been produced yet. Also, in the US, we will be launching basically our own HD VOD channel on August 26th. It’s a new Ripe TV channel, but we’re the only content on it right now.

There are also some new DVDs in development that you’ll like. For one of them, we’ll take you behind-the-scenes for the making of our series. For years, we have had cameras documenting what goes on backstage during tapings with guests, hot tub girls, dancers and me and Liana. A lot of it is too hot for TV, but juuust the right temperature for DVD.
And as of September, you’ll be able to get full episodes of Ed & Red’s Night Party online with a popular service. We can’t tell you who yet because they want to make the announcement.  Again, sign up for the newsletter.

And yes, we will be re-doing our website. It currently mostly sucks.
